This Ultimate Skiing Destination Is More Than Just The Slopes

While it’s easy to think of Vail as skiing and snowboard central, there’s plenty to do beyond the slopes, especially during the holidays. When the snow begins to blanket the streets of this small mountain village, it transforms into a scene worthy of a postcard. This is especially true after the annual tree lighting when Vail Village officially becomes a winter wonderland. During this time of year, just walking the streets with a hot chocolate in hand is a relaxing way to pass the day.

Spend Your Wintertime Outside

Vail is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors through various winter sports and activities, whether you’re hitching a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh, joining the mountain junkies on the slopes, or practicing your pirouettes in the outdoor ice skating rink. You can even take a free educational snowshoe tour to learn about winter ecology and soak up those mountainside views.

Cozy Mountain Elegance and Charm

There’s nothing like getting cozy after a cold winter day, and at the family-owned Tivoli Lodge, you’ll feel right at home. With a wood burning fireplace keeping you nice and toasty, you can kick back and enjoy the welcome scents of fresh baked cookies, hot cider, and rich cocoa, all complimentary for guests. You might even catch sight of the owner’s dog, “Speed,” roaming around, mingling with new guests.

A Home Away From Home

The Tivoli Lodge was one of Vail’s original European-style lodges that opened back in 1968 and has since been re-imagined as a modern boutique hotel. However, even though the lodge has a new luxe look, it still retains the original warmth and charm from when it opened. This is probably because the Lazier family has kept the lodge feeling like a “home away from home” for guests from all over the world.  They even go door to door on Christmas morning, presenting special gifts to all their guests. That’s some pretty amazing hospitality if you ask us.

Located a block away from Vail’s new “Gondola One,” which features wifi and heated seats, and only a few minutes walk from Vail Village, the Tivoli Lodge offers a great location, and a hometown feel that will keep your holiday spirits high all vacation long.
