If you’re a golf enthusiast in search of your next hole-in-one, then you may have heard about the award-winning Jack Nicklaus designed golf course at the Grand Cypress Golf Club. Located on prime real estate in Orlando, Florida, the club showcases a 27-hole and 18-hole course where you can test your accuracy in two breathtaking settings. One course was even inspired by the famous Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland!
Since Orlando is a thriving city on its own, we’ve collected some of our favorite things to do when you’re ready to break away from the green.
Surrounded by wetlands, lakes, and natural swamps, Orlando is the perfect place to dive into some water sports while taking in the local wildlife. From swimming with sharks at Discovery Cove to gliding past alligators on a Kissimmee airboat cruise, you’ll be sure to get your fill of adrenaline. Want to ease your way into the water sports arena? Take a wakeboarding lesson at the Orlando Watersports Complex where you’re guaranteed to stand up, or test your balance during a stand up paddleboard (SUP) yoga class.
Live Like a Local
Just like Disneyworld, Orlando has its own secret spots itching to be discovered. What may look like a standard elevator inside the Dellagio building, is actually an entrance to Orlando’s trendiest speakeasy, The Pharmacy. After a delicious prescription elixir, take a stroll through the town of Celebration, Disney’s planned community that makes you feel as if you’ve stepped onto the movie set of Pleasantville.
Want to take a more serene swim? Check out the luxurious pool experience at the Villas at Grand Cypress which was designed to look like a natural lagoon. Surrounded by lush vegetation, you’ll have premium cocktails delivered to you while laying out under a grove of palm trees. In the evening, catch a live show at the Mad Cow Theatre in the historic downtown and enjoy late-night sushi happy hour at KASA restaurant and bar.
When you feel like indulging on a dime, head over to Crooked Can Brewing Company where you can score some craft beer, brewed in-house, for only $4 or $5 – it doesn’t get much more affordable than that. If you’re looking for something a bit unconventional, try wine in a pouch or box at Quantum Leap Winery, where they source sustainably grown wine from around the world.
Enjoy Even More at the Villas of Grand Cypress
The fun doesn’t stop once you return to your hotel. By reserving a room at the Villas of Grand Cypress, you’ll gain access to 1,500 acres of bike trails, private ponds for catch-and-release fishing, and of course, world renowned golfing. It’s no wonder they are ranked the number one Orlando hotel on TripAdvisor and named our top Orlando vacation resort.
