How to Spend a Weekend Cruising the Craft Beer Scene in Northern New Jersey

There’s nothing like a frothy stout or porter to warm you up during those chilly New Jersey nights. If you’re planning a visit to the Garden State, it’s a good idea to get the low down on some of 2019’s best spots to get your buzz on. Here’s a look at some of our favorite places to celebrate the spirit of the new year, from distilleries only blocks from the ocean to breweries that team up with chefs to add unique flavors and aromas to their batches.

Bustling Breweries

Cypress Brewing Company has spent the last twenty years perfecting their craft, and now it’s available to the masses. With a continually changing lineup they know how to bring great flavors and still have fun, releasing beers with names like Loco en el Cocoa and Insane in the Grain. Another local favorite is Harvest Moon Brewery & Cafe, where the brewers and chefs team up to create a well-curated menu of beer that pairs fantastically with their modern American cuisine. For something different, try their Berry Smoothie Sour Ale.

Delicious Distilleries

For a truly handcrafted cocktail experience, we invite you to explore Asbury Park Distillery. Since liquor laws prohibit distilleries from serving anything that is not produced on site, the distillery has taken it as an opportunity to create alcohol, bitters, tonics, tinctures, and syrups, all in-house. At Jersey Artisan Distilling you’ll be able to taste history since it’s the first distillery in New Jersey to open since Prohibition ended! Specializing in rum and whiskey, this is the spot to go if you’re looking for the perfect addition to your favorite mojito or pina colada recipe.

Drink for a Good Cause

If you like the idea of having a drink to benefit charity, then you’ll be interested in The Heldrich 3rd Annual Craft Beer & Spirit Festival on February 9th. Each ticket benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. You’ll get to fill your commemorative tasting glass with over 50 local craft beers and spirits from vendors across the region and get to snack on food made by award-winning chefs.
