Orlando, Florida, the theme park capital of the world and a downright magical destination… for the kids, right?
Wrong! Orlando caters to all ages, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by just how adult friendly Orlando really is. There’s more to the perpetually sunny town than meets the eye, and those same theme parks the kids always beg to go to, well let’s just say they are filled with adult fun too. If you’re looking for the perfect adults-only getaway, we’ve got an excellent Orlando itinerary in mind for you.
It’s not always an easy task getting kids to the theater, but on your adults-only Orlando trip plenty of theater indulgences await. The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is the place to be for a character-free array of culture. The Center is comprised of four theaters ranging from small to enormous in size, and features Broadway productions, operas, plays, dance, music, films, symphonies and more.
Take Yourself on a ‘Round The World Bar Crawl
We weren’t kidding when we said there’s plenty of adult fun to be had at the local theme parks. The Around the World Showcase at Epcot Center is pretty spectacular as is, but is even more fun with an Around the World Bar Crawl. This has become quite the popular adult activity, and it’s easy to see why. The World Showcase features 11 countries, so that translates to 11 drinks…if you dare. This bar crawl isn’t an official park activity, it’s just a fun and engaging way to take in the showcase as adults. For the best insight into drink recommendations and which country to start in, check out this useful guide.
Orlando is a world-class destination for spa goers. One could spend an entire week spa-hopping, there are so many to try out. Not just your average treatments, Orlando spas are famous for providing cutting edge treatments and spa therapies that have yet to reach other cities. Opt to get a precious gemstone facial, or a freshly harvested seaweed wrap for age-defying results. HydraFacials, four-handed massages and much more awaits soon to be blissed out spa goers. Dining at its Finest
A vacation isn’t complete without the delights of taste. With a passion for farm-to-table dining, cuisines from around the globe, and plenty of the Southern Florida spice, cuisine a la Orlando is ready to please. For an authentic Thai food experience with a modern twist, try out KrungThep Tea Time. For a gorgeous setting and delicious food, try out Urbain 40, an American brasserie and lounge. To dine at a place that features zero walk-in coolers and a large freezer system, meaning all of the ingredients are fresh daily, check out K Restaurant. For a Pintxos fix and a taste of Basque country, you’ll love the Txokos Basque Kitchen. For even more dining recommendations, visit here.
Plenty of Adults Are Mega Harry Potter Fans
The Harry Potter series and films are so enchanting people of all ages have become die-hard fans. Spending a day exploring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter might just be the highlight of your adult-themed Orlando trip (if you’re a Harry Potter fan that is). Without the kids, you can take your time checking out the incredible details, drink as much Butterbeer as your heart desires and maybe even purchase your very own wand.
The Cherry on Top – Relax at The Resort
Yes, there are plenty of diversions in Orlando suitable for adults, but you may very well find the most enjoyment from simply relaxing at your resort. Many Orlando resorts feature a plethora of activities on property. One of Orlando’s top resorts, The Villas of Grand Cypress, is an excellent example. Featuring 1,500 acres, the hotels offers spacious accommodations including Club Suites and elegant Villas with up to four bedrooms. Take your adult trip solo, as a couple, or even with a group of friends. For recreation, imagine 45 holes of Jack Nicklaus Signature-designed golf, an Academy of Golf, biking, resort pool, spa, tennis, and much more.
The sky’s the limit for adult fun in Orlando, a few items we didn’t even include in the above list are experiences such as the nightlife, national parks, museums, and shopping. Of course Orlando is an incredible destination for families and kids because of the unbelievable number of theme parks and entertainment, but adults can enjoy all of those same things (plus more) at their own leisurely pace. Visit Orlando on a romantic getaway for two, use it as a girl’s or guy’s weekend escape, or gather your best friends and gallivant around town together. Regardless of who you visit with, it’s undeniable that you’ll have an unforgettable experience.
