When it comes to love, sometimes showing is more effective than telling. A Valentine’s card with a loving message is sweet, but what if you could go above and beyond words this year? What if there was a grand way to show your sweetheart just how much he or she means to you?
An inspiring love deserves an inspiring setting, and few settings are as naturally spectacular as the North Shore on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Picture this, miles of unspoiled pristine white sand beaches, the sparkling turquoise sea, and air so fresh it doesn’t feel real. This can be the setting for your romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day or any other time of the year.
Turtle Bay Resort & Spa sits directly on the North Shore coastline, overlooks the vast Pacific Ocean, and spans over 800 acres. To say it’s paradise is an understatement. Spending a week away with your love at the luxurious resort on the magnificent North Shore will be an experience out of a dream. Since it’s the season of love, Turtle Bay Resort & Spa is offering a few extra special themed activities to set the mood.
You can spend one of your vacation days on a romantic picnic trail ride. This is the type of activity one would expect to see in a romantic movie because it is that picture-perfect. You’ll be atop a calm and beautiful horse, strolling along 12 miles of oceanfront trails and seaside pathways. Your ears will be treated to the sounds of birds, the breeze, and the roar of crashing waves. One stop along the way will be to the iconic Banyan Tree, which has been a filming site for “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Lost”. Horses + sea vistas + tropical Hawaiian setting = a recipe for Valentine’s success.
Kawela Bay, a bay so beautiful that in ancient times it was reserved for the Ali’i, which were the Hawaiian royalty. Today, Kawela Bay is part of Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, and you’re invited to spend a few hours exploring with your sweetheart via kayak. As you paddle around, you’ll be treated to views of stunning coral reefs, tropical fish, and WWII wreckage a mere three feet below your kayak. Along the journey, you’ll stop at honu “cleaning station” and watch as sea turtles get cleaned! If you’re craving a little adrenaline, surf your kayaks on small, l” waves, or try out the guide-invented sport of Stand Up Kayaking!
You may have heard the delightful crooning of contemporary Hawaiian artist Justin Young before. This Valentine’s Weekend, he’s dropping into Surfer, The Bar at Turtle Bay Resort & Spa. Hosted by TMR events Young is a celebrated local artist who opened for Cassadee Pope of Hey Monday and in 2012 joined as a special guest on the Degraw’s national tour with his fiance Colbie Caillat. Listening and dancing together will be a lovely way to kick off Valentine’s Weekend Saturday, February 1.
There’s no limit to the ways you can shower your significant other with love this month, or any month of the year. Hawaii has been a cherished destination for romance for decades, and Turtle Bay Resort & Spa has been considered a “Top Honeymoon Hot Spot” by the Travel Channel and is a getaway for thousands of lovers each year. It’s such a treat to be lucky-in-love and whether you celebrate on the North Shore or elsewhere, we wish you all the happiest of Valentine’s Days.
